Campbell set for Quinn Insurance British Masters

Campbell will take aim on the Brabazon
Campbell famously held off Tiger Woods in 2005 to win the 105th US Open at Pinehurst. He followed up this career highlight by becoming only the fourth player ever to win the US Open and the World Match Play Championship in the same year and to honour this triumphant achievement, he was named 2005 European Tour Golfer of the Year and given Honorary Life Membership of The European Tour.
With an impressive total of 17 tournaments already behind him this year, including the 137th Open Championship at the Royal Birkdale and most recently the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles where he finished joint tenth on the leader board, New Zealand’s number one golfer is performing strongly and is tipped as one to watch by golfing connoisseurs when the Battle of the Brabazon commences.
With a prize fund of £1.8million up for grabs at this year’s Quinn Insurance British Masters at The Belfry in the West Midlands, Campbell is preparing to pull another fantastic performance out of the bag.
Speaking ahead of the Quinn Insurance British Masters, 39-year-old Campbell, who is only the second New Zealander ever to win a Major tournament since Bob Charles in 1963, said: “I am delighted to be a part of the Quinn Insurance British Masters. I am playing well at the moment and looking forward to competing for the top spot at The Belfry this year.”
Andrew ‘Chubby’ Chandler, Managing Director of promoters International Sports Management, added: “It’s always exciting to welcome a strong international candidate and past Major winner to this tournament to stir things up and we are pleased that Michael has confirmed his place at the event.”
